The Phantom resides in a tropical country called Bangalla. Lee Falk had based Bangalla on India (here I may mention that I myself am an Indian) and had conceived of it as a country neighbouring India. In fact, the word 'Bangalla' has been coined from 'Bengal', the name of an Indian state. However, Lee had not been to India till then and so had brought African Pygmies into the scene. Later on, he decided to make Bengalla an Afro-Indian nation. Anyway, the jungles of this country are the haunts of the Ghost Who Walks.
